Mama's Story
To read a story written by Kirsten Hilyard. She interviewed her grand-mother about her life on Palmerston following a big hurricane which destroyed their island. Jane Marsters was only a ten year old at the time, but her story describes how the islanders survived for what she believes was several months before a ship visited to bring essential supplies.

Hi Yvonne and Tere
Just thought I’d let you know that the family are on their way – especially Auntie Ere, Uncle Nauma and Auntie Noko.
At 9.45am, the boat took off, almost without Eddie who was sure that it wouldn’t leave close to time and had gone wandering off to the Punanga Nui market.
But as soon as the crew had prepared the boat, organised a safety briefing for the passengers, packed cargo and passengers safely on deck, gotten everyone settled, they set sail in beautiful weather conditions.
I am sure that you will all have a brilliant time. Wish we could have been with them. Maybe next time.
Lots of Love
Maureen
